Our legal aid system is in deep crisis. The result? Millions of people are shut out of access to justice, and can’t win their rights – just because of how much money they have.

Legal aid rates haven’t increased since 1996, and over half of people seeking asylum last year couldn’t find a legal aid lawyer.

Because of this, huge numbers of people seeking to make the UK their home have to navigate the system without a lawyer.
